Evaluation of British DPM Soldier 95 woodland pattern

British DPM (Disruptive/Displacement Pattern Material) Combat Soldier 95 is an IRR (Infra-red Reflective) coated poly cotton camouflage woodland pattern comprising of the colors sand, green, brown and black.



Below is a side by comparison of British DPM Soldier 95 woodland pattern and a official issue, U.S. military woodland pattern uniform. Two photos were taken at two different distances, one at 20 foot and the other at 55 foot. The distances are not off by more then 1 foot. Note: The camera's zoom was set to the normal distance of eyesight.


55 foot, British DPM has the edge over the U.S. woodland pattern. The DPM pattern and colors are doing a better job of breaking up their outlines, effectively disrupting the view of the soldier who would be wearing the uniform

DPM has been shown to be more effective for quite sometime...and if you think it's good for woodland, you should see how well the pattern works in desert! I'm a big fan...just hard to get it here, and in my size.

The only options when it comes to DPM are to order it from the UK. Cadet Direct has just about every size.

I know that several online places get surplus pieces from time to time, but that's usually just tops. I know an SAS-themed team that used it and could see where they got theirs. There is also the option of doing like some other elite units were they wear the DPM top with solid OD pants and a beret...sound funky, but looks pretty cool in person. Kind of like British paras in WW2.

There are also other patterns that similar, like canadian and dutch patterns.
